Job Description

General

The Fare Program Ops Specialist reports to the Fare Program Ops Supervisor and is responsible for the distribution of passes and tickets (“fare media”) and assisting with fare program administration.

Essential Functions & Duties

  • Distribute and track fare media inventory for bus, rail, paratransit and Clipper cards.
  • Assist with the administration of the Caltrain GoPass, Caltrain Pass Forward, Caltrain GoPass Parking, Caltrain Monthly Parking, SamTrans Way2Go and SamTrans 31-Day Ticket and SamTrans Youth Unlimited programs.

Examples of Duties:
  • Distribute and track fare media issued to SamTrans and Caltrain partners on a recurring monthly basis or as-needed.
  • Process daily GoPass parking applications and certify participant’s eligibility to receive the access code.
  • Use Clipper’s online portal to enroll organizations into programs and upload products.
  • Work with external fare program customers through electronic and verbal communications to keep them updated about items that impact their participation in the specific program (i.e. applicable fare change notices, program changes, program compliance, etc.).
  • When fare media arrives from the printer, verify packing slip and put away. For magnetic tickets, pull tickets and work with internal stakeholders to coordinate testing and delivery acceptance.
  • Enter data into shared Excel files and verify data for accuracy.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one’s self, fellow employees and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years clerical and business experience.
  • Proficient in operating personal computers and cloud-based software applications, including Microsoft Product Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, OneDrive, etc. and databases
  • Strong understanding of file management in the cloud and through the network
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail are required.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record.


Additional Information

Supervision: Works under the direct supervision of the Fare Program Ops Supervisor who establishes objectives, assigns tasks, monitors and evaluates performance.
