Full-time position available with the Health Department, Behavioral Health & Injury Prevention Division located at 2400 Troost Ave
Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

The Senior Public Health Manager for the Behavioral Health and Injury Prevention Division plays a pivotal role in our organization, overseeing several high-profile programs, including violence prevention, mental health promotion, substance use prevention, and substance use disorder treatment.
  • Adept at leading the development and execution of these initiatives and possess strong skills in strategic planning and managing large teams.
  • Highly organized and professional individual proficient in evidence-based program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Develops effective, innovative strategies that align with Council and City Manager priorities and parameters.
  • Produces professional memos, presentations, and staff evaluations.
  • Learns about the public health approach to addressing social conditions and the role of a local health department, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage large teams, plays a crucial role in ensuring collaborative and efficient project management and strategic planning.
  • Contributes in driving forward the division's strategic vision, making them an integral part of our success.



Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree with major course work in engineering, business or public administration or other appropriate disciplines and seven (7) years administrative and supervisory experience of a progressively responsible nature.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
