Job Description

Position Summary

The Administrative Support Coordinator II serves as a staff member in SDSU’s Fowler College of Business assigned to the Graduate Advising Office in support of State-side Graduate Programs. The Coordinator works closely with the Graduate Programs Director in a wide variety of areas including, but not limited to, student and faculty support and services, program support, admissions, and program events.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Fowler College of Business offers a variety of programs, including an undergraduate and graduate degree in business administration and specialized masters degree programs. The FCB Graduate Programs is responsible for implementing all policies, procedures, and decisions regarding currently enrolled FCB Graduate students and the recruitment, retention and graduation of FCB Graduate students to the on campus programs. Graduate Programs provide and coordinate all academic and informational advising for prospective and current students in the FCB Graduate Programs. Staff in the unit are under the supervision and strategic direction of the Graduate Program Director.

Education and Experience

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

  • Proficiency with Google platforms (Sheets, Drive, Calendar, etc.) and MS Office programs (Word and Excel) is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe products such as Adobe Sign, Oracle E-Business Suite (financial accounting program), and Adaptive Insights (budgeting program) is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,251 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,865 - $6,336 per month.
