Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of the LAES program, the Temporary Assistant Technical Coordinator position provides technical support for the program and con-current Co-Director of LAES while the other program Co-Director is on leave sabbatical leave for AY 2024-2025. Because the Liberal Arts and Engineering studies program is an interdisciplinary project-based learning degree, there is a regular technical support component to the position of the program co-directorship, especially now that the LAES program is responsible for the oversight and management of the new multi-media development space in the Frost Center, the Expressive Technology Studios space (room 104), and the teleconferencing and computer-assisted classroom space dedicated to the LAES program (room 101).

Department Summary

The Liberal Arts & Engineering Studies (LAES) Program, jointly administered by the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Engineering, provides a BS degree in Liberal Arts & Engineering Studies. The department has an enrollment of approximately 60 undergraduate majors and generates between 400-500 SCUs during the academic year. The department is comprised of two directors (one from the Liberal Arts, one from Engineering) who provide instruction in LAES-prefix courses and advising to majors and other interested students in an intensive, project-based curriculum.

Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the principles of performing support services; knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques related to Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies Program, and/or closely related disciplines and curriculum.
  • Ability to calibrate, adjust, operate, and maintain the equipment used for lab instruction.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly obtain, the materials and supplies necessary for the Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies Program curriculum and programs and their uses and applications.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and schedule activities.
  • Ability to operate technical equipment related to the Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies Program discipline.

Education and Experience
  • Equivalent to two years of experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to the Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies; or
  • Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience; or
  • Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a related discipline may be substituted for the experience.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $56,500.00 - $67,000.00 annually

Classification Range: $48,072 - $83,412 annually
