The Colusa County Sheriff's Office seeks a Sheriff's Technician to join our amazing team and make a meaningful impact on the community we serve. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to perform diverse duties across various divisions of the Sheriff’s Department, providing administrative and technical support.

What's this Job All About?
This role is vital to the effective operation of the Sheriff’s Department and the safeguarding of our community. Key tasks include:

Court Securi ty
It encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including the execution of departmental functions in compliance with regulations, the supervision of digital scanning stations for Court Security, and the development and regular updating of operational plans.

Records
The collection, verification, and dissemination of crime statistics and reports, as well as the maintenance of departmental records. Your active involvement in safety planning and training, the creation of reports for governmental bodies, and the distribution of public information will reflect our commitment to transparency and community engagement.

Evidence
The dynamic nature of this role is highlighted by the management of property and evidence, the coordination of training programs, and the prompt response to incidents (Evidence).

Finance
Moreover, the role demands oversight of resource allocation during emergencies, contribution to budget preparation, and support for communications center activities. Your dedication to fulfilling these duties will play a crucial role in advancing the department's mission and fostering public trust.

Supervision & Examples of Duties

Receives general supervision from management or supervisory staff.

Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required Knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience
Some experience in law enforcement or as a public safety dispatcher is desirable.

Training
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Supplemental training in Sheriff’s Department operations or a related field is preferred.

License or Certificate

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Supplemental Information

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance (Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase.) The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
