Position Description
Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
Provides effective and collaborative academic
advising for Phase 1 (preclinical) students

Instructs Phase 1 students regarding
strategies related to academic planning, monitoring and maintaining successful academic progression through the MD curriculum.

Provides scheduled and as needed academic counseling to assist Phase 1 students in
self-evaluation (and remediation if needed) of strategies used to support students' effective acquisition of medical knowledge, completion of each academic year's curricular requirements,
and overall maintaining as expected progression
through the MD degree program.

Assesses and reveiws current academic advising best practices and materials, services and resources supplied by the SOM to Phase 1 students.

Uses data and case management tools to identify which of their assigned Phase 1 students are in need of additional academic/ learning support.



Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.
