The Position

Contra Costa County is recruiting to fill one (1) Chief Deputy Director- Exempt vacancy in the Employment and Human Services Department.

Minimum Qualifications

License Required: Candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business or Public Administration, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Work, or a closely related field or other degree major acceptable based on years of experience in public administration in a human services agency, AND

Experience: Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) professional experience in human services management, at least three (3) years of which must have been in an executive position managing human services to the public within a large diverse program or public agency providing human services to the public.

Substitution for Experience: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business or Public Administration, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Work and five (5) years of the required experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in an executive position managing human services to the public within a large diverse program or public agency providing human services to the public.

Selection Process

This position is exempted from the merit system and will not follow regular County recruitment and selection procedures. Not all applicants will be invited to participate in the evaluation and interview process.
Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Interview: The most qualified candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an interview. This is an exempt classification. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee advancement in the interview process.
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

The employment list established by this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER


All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
