Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Housing Operations, Housing and Residential Life, this position works independently to perform complex and technical work to manage Conference Operations and Off-Campus Housing Resources for revenue generating event spaces (e.g Pointe Conference Center, Parkside North venue, etc.). They are responsible for marketing and sales of conference program, including all hospitality services, such as housing, food service, meeting space and related duties. They will assist in supporting off-campus housing resources. The incumbent works with various vendors, guests, campus community members and provides hospitality services coordinating events for the various venues ensuring that the spaces are ready for each event, facilitating the services in support of the clients, and returning the venue to its original configuration. Position provides customer service and leads student conference staff. Additionally, the position serves as a primary back up for the Summer Conference and Assignments Coordinators.

Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conference Services Coordination - Administer the year-round Conference Services Program (summer conferences, the Pointe, and other revenue generating space rentals). Plan, develop, and execute conferences, events, seminars, workshops, etc., including group facilitation and public speaking.
  • Off Campus Housing Coordination - Advise students and family members on apartment searches and roommate connections. Responsible for multiple workshops for students about off-campus housing options, renter rights. Serves as campus liaison to local property management companies and individual landlords with the goal of developing positive living experiences for students and neighbors.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and time management skills. Must possess computer skills (Office 365, Adobe Suite, StarRez, DocuSign). Experience with planning, developing, and executing conferences, events, seminars, workshops, etc. Background in customer service and/or conference services. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Skill in implementing and assuring compliance with office and University policies and procedures while maintaining good working relationships with staff at all levels within and external to the University. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in stressful situations and respond to emergency and crisis situations. Skill in time management including prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner. Flexibility with changes in workload, under pressure of deadlines, competing requirements, heavy workload, and constant interruptions. Ability to work weekends and flexible work time as determined by operational needs.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.

• Four years of related experience, preferably in hospitality services or event planning.

• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience working with a diverse group of individuals and multicultural university environment.

• Experience working with databases preferred.

• Experience with reservation systems or other databases preferred.

Physical Summary
  • Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: $4,379 - $7,100 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,379 - $7,922 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
