3% effective 1/20/25 ($70,122 - $89,518 Annually)

The Department of Internal Services currently has an outstanding career opportunity for experienced and adept individuals interested in pursuing a career as a Maintenance Services Supervisor.

Maintenance Services Supervisors are responsible for assigning, reviewing, and directing the work of crafts, trades, and maintenance employees. Incumbents supervise and perform inspections, preventative maintenance, repair, and minor alterations to buildings and facilities; prioritize maintenance and repair work, and utilize a computerized maintenance management system in the completion of work orders.

As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities. Fresno County detention facilities are "no-hostage" facilities. This means in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group II - Moderate Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require moderate physical effort using arms, legs, back, and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) 10-25 pounds, and occasionally over 25 pounds. Generally, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved.

Minimum Qualifications OPTION 1 :

Experience : Three (3) years of full-time, paid work experience with the County of Fresno as a Building Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Carpenter, Maintenance Plumber, Maintenance Painter, Locksmith, Air Conditioning Mechanic, or Maintenance Electrician.

OPTION 2 :

Experience : Three (3) years of full-time, paid supervisory or lead experience in a commercial, industrial or institutional setting directing one or more of the following major building maintenance or repair functions: structural, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, locksmith, HVAC-R, or electrical.

The following information is in addition to the options listed above:

License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

Notes : As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities.

SELECTION PROCESS :

  • Certification Without Examination - In instances where the number of eligible candidates is less than or equal to the number of qualified applicants the Department is entitled to receive under Personnel Rule 4212, the competitive examination process will be waived and the names will be certified without an examination.
  • Written Examination - If required, the examination will be offered in an online format. Please indicate on the supplemental questionnaire if you have the ability to complete an online examination.

Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to 12 months) and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
