GENERAL DESCRIPTION and CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

The Training Coordinator, Senior is a role within the Organizational Development unit of the Department of Human Resources. As a Training Coordinator, Senior, this individual performs technical and paraprofessional personnel functions for the Human Resources group within an assigned department. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to providing assistance to City of Atlanta employees and the general public; entering data into and maintaining data within the Learning Management System (LMS) used enterprise wide; generating and completing forms/reports, maintaining files; and processing personnel transactions and employment requests. Individuals who possess excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a collaborative environment tend to excel in this role.

This position requires a strong knowledge and experience within a Learning Management System. The Training Coordinator, Senior is responsible for managing the implementation of training curricula (including training sessions where learners will be assigned or asked to self-enroll) and implementing the system upgrades. In addition, this role requires the management of Learner profiles within the LMS database.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under very general supervision. May work independently or with other workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creates training classes via LMS for employee registration (assigned or self-enrolled learning)
  • Maintains records of attendance and successful completion of training via internal LMS
  • Maintains updates to LMS User Manuals for Employees and Learning Specialists.
  • Collaborates and Partners with Training Specialist/Instructional Design Specialist to conduct LMS Training.
  • Prepares various types of reports such as Compliance (Required) and Voluntary trainings; New Hire Orientation completion; Monthly Professional Development Training Metrics.
  • Monitors employee database (LMS) to ensure employee training records are current and available.
  • Develops or assists with development of and maintains a company-wide/city-wide training calendar; tracks required initial and refresher training
  • Organizes and coordinates training sessions; reserves space for training, ensures that audio/visual equipment is available and operating, provides copies of handouts/assessments, evaluations for class distribution.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal mailbox from learners to assist with class enrollment/trouble shooting within LMS
  • Prepares monthly metrics reports for classes and consults to track evaluations, feedback, attendance/no shows
  • Assists the Senior Training Manager/Executive Director and other training staff with their assigned duties

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related software.

  • Knowledge of assessment tools (MS Forms, SurveyMonkey, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and active listening skills).
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Skilled in using Audio/Visual and other presentation equipment, including Smartboards and Virtual Platforms.


Education: Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education,Business or related field. (Equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis)

Experience: 4-5 years of paraprofessional Human Resources experience is required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business or public administration or a related field and 5-8 years of paraprofessional Human Resources experience. Willingness to learn additional software programs.

Previous experience and knowledge of an electronic Learning Management System (LMS) or database.
