THIS IS A FIRE DISTRICT POSITION ONLY

San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is recruiting for an Information Systems Analyst II who implements and supports functions related to information systems including hardware, software, and policy requirements of County Fire.

This position will monitor and control the storage and backup of data; support and troubleshoot Office 365 environment; implement, support, and troubleshoot the Local and Wide Area Networks and its associated equipment to included routers, switches, and related network circuits; and implement support, and troubleshoot the equipment and software related to network security including firewall and intrusion detection systems.

The incumbent will serve in the dedicated Management Information Systems group supporting the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District . The office is located at the Administration Headquarters in San Bernardino.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment . Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Physical: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lb; frequent sitting, walking, standing, and bending.
Work Hours: May be required to work on-call or call-back as needed in order to ensure uninterrupted communications 24/7.

CONFIRE, JPA is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) established to provide communications, dispatch, computer information systems support, and geographic information systems (GIS) to the Consolidated Fire Agencies Joint Power Authority (CONFIRE JPA) and contract agencies. The CONFIRE Communications Center (Comm Center) is located in Rialto.

Minimum Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional work experience, within the past five (5) years, performing systems administration at the enterprise level.

Experience must include at least two of the following:
  • Administration and maintenance of enterprise servers (Windows/UNIX/Linux), storage, and backup systems
  • High availability and disaster recovery as they relate to system architecture and infrastructure
  • Administration and maintenance of VMware virtualization technologies

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Information Systems, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application.

Education Substitution: An additional one (1) year of qualifying experience may substitute for 15 semester (23 quarter) units of the education requirement, up to 30 semester (45 quarter) units.

Desired Qualifications

In addition to a Bachelor's degree, the ideal candidate will possess CISSP and CISCO certifications, as well as advanced skills in one or more of the following areas:
  • Work in 24/7 Production Support environment
  • Server Virtualization infrastructure tools: VMware (ESX, Virtual Center, VI Client)
  • Wireless LAN, fixed wireless, and wireless WAN networks
  • Install, configure and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Systems administration of Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, and Systems Center
  • Management of Enterprise or large scale networking environments
  • Administration and design of datacenter environments
