NATURE OF WORK:

Performs responsible technical field and office work for complex crime scene investigations, documenting crime scenes, evidence identification, collection, processing, preservation, submission; producing detailed reports; testifying in court proceedings; and other duties as assigned. Employees assigned to this classification must complete an extensive training program to reach full proficiency in all areas. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Forensics Manager and performances maybe reviewed while in progress, upon completion and through direct on-site observation, review of reports, and conferences.

Minimum Requirements

Associate Degree in Crime Scene Technology, Crime Scene Investigations, Forensic Science or related field required, and one (1) year of experience in crime scene processing, photography required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and crime scene processing experience. Certification required through the International Association of Identification as a "Level 1 - Certified Crime Scene Investigator" within 16 months of hire. Also required to pass medical and psychological examinations and a thorough background check which includes polygraph. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.
