DIVISION DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION

This is an open competitive recruitment, open to all qualified applicants. This position is appointed by and
serves at the pleasure of the Administrator of the Division of Human Resources Management ('Division').

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:
The Division provides a full range of human resource services with the exception of health benefits,
retirement, and safety and workers' compensation which are administered separately by the Public
Employees' Benefits Program, Public Employees' Retirement System, and Risk Management, respectively.
The Division is responsible for establishing the centralized human resource practices for Nevada's
Executive Branch and classified employees of the Nevada Systems of Higher Education.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position serves as part of the Human Resource leadership team under the direction of the Division of
Human Resource Management Administrator. This position is tasked with overseeing and leading all
aspects of the Division's Classification/Compensation unit. The best candidate will bring a strategic vision
to the Compensation and Classification unit, design short-term and long-term strategies for continuous
improvement in operations and provide statewide auditing services on classifications within State agencies.

The Classification/Compensation unit is tasked with maintaining the State's master classification plan for
existing and new positions. This includes conducting occupational studies, class specification maintenance
reviews, and individual classification studies when new or revised class specifications are deemed
necessary. Under the direction of the Administrator, this unit will review and audit annually the
classification plan of each State agency to ensure compliance with the master classification plan.
Additionally, this unit is responsible for maintaining and distributing the compensation schedules for all
State employees, conducting wage and benefit surveys, developing pay policies in compliance with federal
and State requirements, providing consultation regarding compensation issues, and ensuring that all
adjustments to salary comply with respective requirements established pursuant to NAC 284.

LOCATION:
This position is located in CARSON CITY, NV or LAS VEGAS, NV dependent on the best candidate.
Travel will be required within the State of Nevada.

Annual Salary:
$111,773 plus benefits (Salary range reflects retirement (PERS) contributions by both the employee and
employer). $95,737 plus benefits (Salary range reflects retirement (PERS) contributions for Employer
only). Salary does not reflect an 11% COLA increase that will go into effect July 1, 2024.

TO QUALIFY:
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a bachelor's degree in human resources, public
administration, business, or a related field and five years of professional human resources/compensation
experience.

A successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
• Experience in classification and compensation management, classification studies and
classification/position reviews.
• Experience supervising and leading an HR team.

LICENSE:
A valid Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment or within 30 days of appointment.
