THE CITY

Culver City is a Charter City incorporated in 1917, and is a destination filled with outdoor cafes, unique shops and galleries opening onto pedestrian-friendly boulevards. The City provides a full range of municipal services including Fire, Police, Community Development, Public Works, Parks, Recreation, and Community Services, and Transportation.

THE POSITION

  • Duties assigned to this position include: Collects debris boxes and/or compactors filled with garbage, refuse, trash and recyclables.
  • Hauls containers to prescribed disposal sites.
  • Returns containers to original location or places properly in storage site.
  • Work is performed alone, without a helper or collector.
  • Performs a daily operations/safety check, regular cleaning, and servicing of assigned specialized vehicles (including filling the vehicle with fuel, water, and oil as well as checking the brake and hydraulic systems).
  • Skillfully operates a variety of heavy refuse collection equipment such as trucks and drop bodies in the collection of commercial and residential refuse.
  • May act as a relief Sanitation Driver
  • Performs other related duties.
Minimum Requirements :

Any Combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: Graduation from high school and two (2) years or experience as a Sanitation Driver.

License and Certificates : Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license without any airbrake restrictions is required.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES

Applicants must receive a passing score on all examination components to be placed on the eligible list.

Examination Components:

Written Exam : To determine ability to follow written and oral instructions. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 13, 2024) . Weighted at 30%.

Performance Test : To measure ability to operate a roll-off vehicle. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of May 27, 2024) . Weighted at 70%.
