- - THIS IS A SPECIAL DISTRICTS POSITION ONLY - -

San Bernardino County Department of Public Works - Special Districts is seeking an organized and efficient District Services Coordinator to provide administrative support and oversight to District programs, services, and facility upkeep. Assignments will vary from unit to unit and will often require knowledge of specific District functions, procedures and practices.

The District Services Coordinator performs recreation programming, technical and analytical duties, directs schedules, organizes staff and events, and supervises District staff in performance of duties. Positions in this class require the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate information to others in order to complete a process, transaction and/or resolve a technical problem.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprints and a medical exam.

Availability: Position will report to Bloomington. Travel to San Bernardino, Oak Glen, El Mirage, Oro Grande, Lake Arrowhead, and other districts in the high desert, low desert, and valley areas may be required. Employees will work a varying schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, to provide oversight of special events and programs.

Travel/License: Travel throughout San Bernardino County is required. A valid California Driver License and proof of automobile liability insurance must be provided at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, sun, snow, and rain, lift and/or carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand, kneel, squat, and perform other physical activities in the performance of job duties to prepare and present various programs and events in the various locations throughout the County.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirement:

EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years full-time experience working for a County Service Area, District, Public Works Department, or public entity providing any of the following services: Parks and Recreation, Fire Protection, Landscape Maintenance, Water, Sanitation, or Roads Maintenance. Duties must include a variety of operation, program, and maintenance.

SUBSTITUTION:
Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed coursework from an accredited college or university in business/public administration, parks and recreation administration, environmental studies, or a relevant field may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

NOTE: Ensure your work history clearly details qualifying experience in parks and recreation programs, conservation and preservation programs, budgets, and grant writing and administration, as well as your supervisory experience.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in parks and recreation, business, or public, administration. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and have demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
