Job Description

Pay Range: $37.47/hr. - $48.71/hr.

Workdays & Hours: FLSA Exempt position. Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm; some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid on-site work model available with supervisory approval; staff required to be on-site at least 2 days per week.

An IT Information Security Analyst position is available with the City of Fort Worth’s IT Solutions Security Division. The IT Security Analyst proactively monitors, evaluates, and maintains central security policies for the City of Fort Worth. The Security Analyst will be responsible for interfacing with many City organizations to provide security assessment, planning, and remediation in the delivery and safeguarding of our highly available network and Internet services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of responsible experience in Information Security programs.
  • Relevant certifications within the Information Security realm (CompTIA, Security+, GISF, ISC2-CC, etc.) within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Candidate selected for hire must pass a Criminal Background Check for CJIS.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in daily monitoring, follow-up and remediation of threat events generated from security platforms (Firewall, Antivirus/EDR, SIEM).
  • Experience managing Email security threats (e.g. Phishing, email based threats, etc.).
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and management.
  • Experience managing security awareness campaigns and processes.
  • Relevant certifications within the Information Security realm (CompTIA Security+, GISF, ISC2-CC, etc.).

The IT Information Security Analyst job responsibilities include:
  • Participate in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and security strategies.
  • Coordinate, perform and track vulnerability and security assessments.
  • Monitors and reviews log information from various sources.
  • Performs audits of security configurations of devices and systems across the environment.
  • Investigate any potential compromise of city networks or owned resources.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of information security technologies.
  • Consistent assessment, documentation, and mitigation of information security threats and risks.
  • Providing exemplary customer service to technical and non-technical staff.

Physical Demand

Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check

Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
