Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus six (6) years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience may substitute for education for up to four (4) years.
  • Graduation with a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience.

Austin Energy (AE) seeks an IT Enterprise Business Systems Analyst to research, analyze, and document effective business applications and requirements in support of business-oriented information technology implementations, under moderate supervision. The IT Enterprise BSA shall lead IT business solution analysis through a Technology Delivery process that focuses on strategic alignment with enterprise and/or departmental objectives. This position proactively initiates, plans, leads, and provides consultation on analytical and creative strategies to resolve business and technical issues and gaps confronting management in the area of planning and implementing technology solutions. This position reports to the Technology Project Management Officer of the Business Operations Liaison Team ( BOLT ).

HYBRID TELEWORK SCHEDULE :

Effective November 17, 2023 - IT positions are eligible for an 80-100% telework schedule subject to the business needs of the department.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong experience eliciting business and technical requirements for SaaS software implementations.
  • Strong experience conducting public RFI (Request for Information) solicitations.
  • Strong experience with Business Process Mapping.
  • Strong experience managing initiatives with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, and using Microsoft Office 365 or related tools.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.


Devises and recommends appropriate business and process solutions and serve as a change champion. Serves as a subject matter expert for analytical support to solve business problems, assess effectiveness and necessity, and use tools such process maps, diagrams, strategy maps, etc. Gathers business, technical and functional requirements and designs algorithms for optimization and automation. Provides support in implementation, user testing, and quality efforts. Maintains relationships with business partners and analyzes and reviews documented business requirements. Works with City IT project teams to communicate business priorities, translate business requirements into technical requirements and identify appropriate solutions. Facilitates regular requirement gathering and design sessions with the user community and communicates expectations to the appropriate team. Negotiates innovative business solutions that satisfy customer needs, are consistent with architectural guidelines, and conform to security standards. Assesses the impact of proposed solutions, facilitate deployments and minimize disruption to services. Documents user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures. Coordinates project resources and ensures business projects are delivered on time and within budget. Provides consultative support on business-led technology initiatives.
