Pay Range: $22.02 -$27.52/hr.

A Recreation Programmer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Department/Community ServicesThe position is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services atMartin Luther King Community Center 5565 Truman Dr, 76112

This position will coordinate community center recreational, educational, leisure, and athletic programs and operations within the department; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; provide responsible staff assistance to management staff;

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Major course work in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred;
  • Two (2) years of responsible community center service, curriculum development, event planning, or recreational programming experience.
  • Possession of a valid Texas driver's license.
  • Must pass Drug Screen, and Physical

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in community center service, curriculum development, event planning or recreational programming is preferred.
  • Experience working with afterschool programs, summer and school break camps with school age children;
  • 1 year of leadership and organizational skills
  • Bilingual skills, English/Spanish is preferred
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment, certifications in Adult and Child CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel computer skills are required

The Recreation Programmer job responsibilities include:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of programs;
  • Participate in staffing and executing operational activities of the community center;
  • Recruit and coach youth sport participants, plan activities for youth, teens and older adults.
  • Assist in developing and implementing community wide programs for youth and adults;
  • Administer and maintain budget for programs and activities;
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with businesses, organizations, and schools;
  • Ensure programs and users of facility adheres to policies and guidelines;
  • Excellent ability to work with customers, community members, and parents;
  • Ability to initiate programs and activities to increase community center usage;
  • Knowledge of promoting programs and services offered at facility;
  • Assist with set up and break down of programs and activities as needed.

Physical Demand

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
