Job Description The City of Galveston’s Information Technology Department is seeking a motivated career- and customer-oriented Senior Systems Administrator that will support the city’s information technology needs. This on-site role’s job duties will include but not be limited to system/server administration, hardware infrastructure, storage area networks, active directory management, and handle projects related to data center management, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery. Support is provided to all lines of business for the city, addressing both internal and external system requirements. Be proficient with Active Directory, Federated Services, Group Policy, SSO, MFA, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc. Having a good understanding of cyber security best practices, knowledge and experience with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is a plus. Ability to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SANs, HBAs, fiber channel switches, fiber cables, SATA drives, and associated firmware and software. Ability to install and maintain wireless access points and associated wireless equipment. This position will act as lead to three Network Technicians who collectively provide end-user support. The ideal candidate must have the ability to effectively resolve difficult customer situations, function independently within the scope of their responsibilities, manage complex technology projects, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Possible projects include developing requirements for technology procurements, planning local area network upgrades, coordinating the rollout of mobile devices using a management system, and managing deployment and maintenance of department-level applications or systems.
