Job Summary

CUSTODIAN
Pay Range: $17.50/hour to $21.00/hour
Hiring Bonus: $1500

The City of Olathe’s Facilities Division is currently seeking an experienced Custodian to join our team. Our Custodians are key to maintaining City facilities so Olathe residents feel welcomed and comfortable whenever they visit.

A typical day could include cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas, setting-up or tearing-down to support an event, changing a light bulb, and cleaning a restroom or locker area.

This role requires wearing provided personal protective equipment as needed, operating various tools and cleaning equipment, and working in wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. It requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, walking, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, and grasping, often on uneven or slick surfaces. Additionally, tasks may involve reaching or lifting above the shoulder and below the knee, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials, tools, and objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance. There may also be exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, or sanitary waste.

Schedule:
• Will train during daytime hours before moving to an evening shift.

Hiring Bonus Details:
Candidates responding to this job posting will be eligible for a $1,500 hiring bonus paid in three increments.

• Using appropriate equipment, chemicals and PPE, clean and sanitize buildings and fixtures.
• Replenish consumables such as paper towels and toilet paper.
• Properly dispose of waste and trash, gather and sort recyclable materials per operating procedures.
• Assist in setting up and tearing down furnishings for special events.
• Open and/or secure building per operating procedure, observe and report any security issues including unauthorized persons, graffiti and vandalism.
• Perform other duties as assigned and within traditional scope of custodial services and light maintenance.

Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge , skills and abilities is acceptable . A typical way to obtain the knowledge , skills and abilities would be:

Experience : 1 - 3 years custodian experience.

Education: High School Education or equivalent.

Licenses and/or Certificates : Valid driver’s license.

Supervises: N/A.
