This position performs advanced administrative tasks, both individually and as part of a team, that enable the department to serve citizens effectively and efficiently.

Salary Range: $42,432 - $51,233 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a high level of administrative support for the Subdivision Section of the Department, including two Professional Planners;
  • Provide administrative support when subdivision plats are required to be reviewed/approved by decision-making bodies such as the Planning Commission;
  • Coordinate with the Assessor's Office for Parcel ID information;
  • Prepare and Record Plats at the Register of Deeds Office;
  • Coordinate Subdivision Applications in Energov and review applications for completeness;
  • Coordinate with jurisdictional agencies on subdivision applications;
  • Send subdivision comments to applicants within a strict timeline;
  • Draft correspondences and documents/reports;
  • Coordinate preapplication meetings and take meeting notes;
  • Providing back up support for the administrative function of the Zoning/Planning Department front desk;
  • Prepare notification letters and emails as needed;
  • Respond to questions, comments and requests from employees, elected and appointed officials, and citizens in a courteous and timely manner;
  • Work in the Emergency Operations Center, when activated;
  • Attend meetings, workshops and training sessions to become and remain current on the principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

Minimum Education - High school diploma/GED required; Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Planning or related field is preferred.

Minimum Qualification - A minimum of 4 or more years of experience in a related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

This position requires an extremely high level of organization. Should be able to accurately type correspondences, reports and memoranda and effectively communicate with others both orally and in writing to respond to inquiries from elected and appointed officials, employees, and the public. Must have a high level of comfort using software programs such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Energov Permitting, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Should be able to work independently with minimal supervision while performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
