The Job

The Department of Public Health is seeking to fill multiple positions to support emergency response efforts. Vacancies exist throughout our Mobile Vaccination team, Preparedness and Response team, and Warehouse and Inventory Support team. T eam members provide community members access to services and resources during a public health emergency. Duties may include travel throughout the County to provide vaccination support during a public health emergency and assist in responding to a natural disaster. **Full-Time Extra-Help Opportunities**

The County is actively seeking candidates to fill multiple vacancies in the following positions:

Medical Branch Coordinator (MBC)

Supervising Registered Nurse

$52 /hour

The MBC works side-by-side with the Medical Point of Dispensing (MPOD) Managers to oversee, coordinate, and supervise the administration of COVID-19 vaccinations. The MBC will supervise medical staff in a non-clinical setting; monitor emergency supplies to include but not limited to medication and ancillary supplies; maintain current knowledge of CDC guidance and regulations regarding childhood immunizations, COVID-19, and Influenza vaccinations such as, dosage requirements by medication; e nforce strict PPE guidance in emergency situations; handle, store, and secure biohazard waste and support documentation; train new staff on policies, procedures, and guidance for administering vaccinations; Adapt and adjust practices to serve community members in an efficient and safe manner. MBC may be called upon to train and lead Public Health and other County staff members during redeployed to address public health emergencies.

Licensed Vocation Nurse

(LVN) $25/hour

LVNs assigned to the Mobile Vaccination team will administer vaccinations to the community, conduct final screenings of questionnaires and consent forms; notify site coordinators of ill clients; record, complete and update patient records. LVNs will be responsible to maintain current knowledge of CDC guidance and regulations regarding childhood immunizations, COVID-19, and Influenza vaccinations and, a ssist with patient intake and setup of mass vaccination clinics throughout San Bernardino County.

General Support Staff

(GSS) $17/hour

GSS may work in various roles supporting overall vaccination operations including line monitoring, appointment verification, inventory control, logistical support, clerical support, and other duties as assigned. GSS assigned to work in the Mobile Vaccination team will be responsible for staying up to date on current CDCPH COVID-19 vaccination eligibility guidelines and may be required to travel daily throughout San Bernardino County and support after hours and weekends.

GSS assigned to the Warehouse and Inventory team will perform routine warehouse duties including, but not limited to receiving, packing, and inspecting inventory; picking up and delivering a variety of supplies, materials, parts, and equipment; travel throughout the county in variety of vehicles, respond to emergencies across the county and other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must pass a background check, and job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.

Employment Status: These positions are extra-help, and incumbents do not attain status as regular County employees. Although these positions are of limited duration and temporary in nature, most assignments are full-time up to twelve (12) months.

Availability: Work schedule may be Monday-Friday with occasional weekends and evenings as necessary. The schedule is contingent upon department's organizational and staffing coverage needs in order to better serve the community.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance are required and must be maintained throughout employment.

Minimum Requirements

Medical Branch Coordinator:

Supervising RN

Applicants must possess all of the following licensure/certification requirements and experience:
  • Valid Registered Nurse license: issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN).
  • Valid Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Experience: Must possess eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent experience as a certified Registered Nurse of which, one (1) year must be working in a lead or supervisory capacity over medical staff.

Licensed Vocational Nurse:

Applicants must possess all of the following licensure/certification requirements and experience:
  • Valid Vocational Nurse license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (CA BVNPT).
  • Valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy/Blood Withdrawal certifications* for LVN issued by a provider approved by the CA BVNPT.
  • Valid Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience as an LVN.

General Support Staff:

Applicants must possess all of the following:
  • Must be 18 year of age.
  • Six (6) months (full-time equivalent) paid or volunteer work experience.
