The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker I for the various parks throughout the Big Bear area. Park Maintenance Workers perform a variety of routine tasks in connection with the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of park grounds and facilities. Park Maintenance Workers are responsible for upkeep of the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation systems on park grounds, as well as performing concrete and asphalt work; roofing, painting, carpentry, welding, new construction or remodeling; landscaping and shrubbery care; and heavy snow removal.

This position is located in the Big Bear area, which is in the San Bernardino Mountains and approximately 46 miles/1.5 hours from downtown San Bernardino.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Work Location: Must be available to work in the Big Bear Valley.
  • License: Must possess and maintain a valid California Class "C" driver license.
  • Shift Availability: Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to perform heavy manual labor, work outdoors in extreme cold and in other varying weather conditions. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods in the performance of job duties for this position.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:

Availability: Must be available to work in the Big Bear area and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
License: Must possess a valid California Class "C" driver license.
Experience: Must possess six (6) months of experience performing building or grounds maintenance.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in the upkeep of park grounds and facilities.
