About the University: California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. Since that time, the University has grown and developed into one of the premier public universities, not only in the California State University system, but also in the nation. Indeed, U.S. News & World Report listed CSUCI as 29th among “Regional Universities West” in its 2023 edition of Best Colleges Rankings. In 2023, CollegeNET ranked CSUCI 71st out of over 1,400 schools in its “Social Mobility Index.” In 2020, Money Magazine rated CSUCI as the 15th “Most Transformative College” in the nation.
CSUCI is a public comprehensive university that engages students in critical inquiry and is dedicated to educating leaders for a global society. The University is located in Ventura County and is home to 4,959 undergraduate and 168 graduate students. Approximately 48% of CSUCI’s students are Pell Grant eligible, and approximately 60% are first-generation college students. CSUCI is also proud to be designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), with 61% of its undergraduate students self-identifying as Latinx, 23% as White, 6% as Asian/Asian American, 4% as multiracial, and 2% as Black/African American. About the Program: CSU Channel Islands offers a variety of computer science degree programs for both undergraduates and postgraduates alike. The Computer Science Department offers degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology and Mechatronics Engineering and provides students with a background in the fundamentals of computer hardware and software. Program faculty specialize in areas of algorithms, artificial intelligence, security, databases, and robotics.
About the Position: The Computer Science program at CSU Channel Islands has openings for lecturer positions to teach undergraduate courses in computing. Examples of course offerings include, but are not limited to, Computer Literacy, Web Development, Introduction to Programming in languages such as C, Python, JavaScript and Java.
Minimum Degree Requirements: A Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.
Required Qualifications: - Applicants should have a Masters Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution or at least 5 years of teaching computing-related courses in either a college or industry setting.
- Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.
Preferred Qualifications: - Masters Degree in Computer Science.
- 3+ years of teaching experience within a college or industry setting.
- Extensive industry experience in the computing field.
Responsibilities:Primary responsibilities are to teach undergraduate courses in computing and advise students within the classroom setting.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
