University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, Full Time, Non-Exempt, Benefited position through June 30, 2024 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $3,580.00 per month.

Location: CSUSB campus.

Program Summary:

The WAIV program provides support through enhanced career preparation services to California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) students with disabilities that are clients of the California

Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) that assists them in overcoming barriers, obtaining gainful

employment within their academic major and job retention.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week. Typically, Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm though some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the (SUPERVISOR), the (POSITION) will work independently to:
  • Orients students/DOR clients to WAIV program services, policies and procedures.
  • Research local labor market trends that are consistent with students’/DOR clients’ Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
  • Work with participants to explore career options; facilitate on- and off-campus referrals; identify needs for supports; request Schedule A and LEAP documentation, reasonable accommodations, and assistive technologies; selection of courses to expand job opportunities; and timing and the coordination of internship opportunities.
  • Develop and carry out vocational workshops and Job Club activities that include resume and cover letter development, completing applications, carrying out student services, and conducting mock interviews.
  • Review students’/DOR clients’ status on a monthly basis and documents all WAIV student/DOR client interactions in the WAIV database.
  • Provide student/DOR client updates and monthly progress reports to DOR counselors.
  • Assists the WAIV Team in the provision of other program services to include, but not limited to: job development; internship and job placement, student services, and follow up.
  • The position attends on- and off-campus, WAIV related meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Applicant must possess an undergraduate degree from a four-year college or
      university, preferably with a business, marketing or social science major.
  • Experience:
    • Applicants must have two to five years’ experience in job placement or career development (including experience organizing job fairs).
    • Applicants should have knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, state and federal employment laws and legal interviewing practices, general and specific employment issues relative to individuals with disabilities.
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local labor market trends and knowledge of the DOR or similar agencies that assist individuals with disabilities is preferred.
    • Applicant must be an energetic self-starter, who has proven job development and organizational expertise; able to

      establish and maintain strong ties to the local business community; communicate effectively in both oral and written formats; work effectively with a diverse population; able to serve as an advocate for employment of individuals with disabilities; and work independently in the field, while working under deadlines.
    • Applicants must have demonstrated computer skills including the ability to utilize the internet for job searches and employment trends.
  • Other:
    • Applicants must have the ability to travel and provide their own transportation.

      In addition, applicant must have valid CDL and valid car registration including adequate vehicle

      insurance required by UEC policy.
