Power Engineer I/II

Looking for a dynamic individual interested in tackling all aspects of

grid planning, design, and operation.

This position is open until filled.

The City of Roseville is currently accepting applications for the role of Power Engineer I/II. This position will be assigned to the Power Engineering Division, which is responsible for all aspects of engineering work related to operating and maintaining the Roseville Electric Utility system. This includes functions such as substation design, protection and controls, distribution operations and planning, sub-transmission operations and planning, and asset management.

Minimum Qualifications

Experi e n ce a nd T r ain i ng

Po w e r Engineer I

Experience:

No professional experience is required; one year of technical electric power engineering experience is desirable.

AND

Tra i ni n g :

A Bachelor’s degree, at the time of appointment, from an accredited college or university in electrical engineering or a related field.

License and Cert i ficate:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.

Power Engineer II

Experience:

Two years of responsible experience performing duties similar to that of a Power Engineer I with the City of Roseville.

AND

Training :

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electrical engineering or a related field.

License and Certificate

Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.

Possession of an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. California certification is desirable but not required.

SELECTION PROCESS

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.

Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
