Electronic control systems typically found on modern automotive equipment. Operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines, and of mechanical repair of heavy trucks and construction equipment. Ability to: Learn to perform a variety of repair, replacement, and maintenance tasks on heavy and light equipment. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Competently and safely operate and care for tools used in equipment repair work. Adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems. Interpret and work from sketches and diagrams. THE POSITION The Equipment Mechanic III works closely with the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in the daily operations as well as provides assistance and training to Mechanics in the Shop when complex repairs arise. IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT The City of Sacramento Fleet Division is seeking an Equipment Mechanic III. The ideal Equipment Mechanic III candidate should be able to perform highly technical mechanical work on a wide variety of municipal equipment. The ideal candidate should also have experience working in a unionized workforce and training staff in a lead capacity or higher, while providing exceptional customer service. GENERAL PURPOSE: Incumbent in this position will be responsible for ensuring well-maintained, high quality, safe and aesthetically pleasing golf grounds, facilities and equipment.
