The Plans Examiner is an entry-level position within the Plan Check Engineer series. Assists in researching code changes or procedural changes to enhance efficiency within the department Prepares and updates comprehensive corrections lists, handouts, and forms. Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence. May perform supervised field inspections to evaluate discrepancies between plans, specifications, and work completed. May be required to work shifts, weekends and/or holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Education/Training/Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Two (2) years of related professional experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree is required. Must possess knowledge of Title 24 California Building Standards Codes. One (1) year of recent building plan checking experience is desirable. License/Certificate/Special Requirements: Certification by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Plans Examiner is highly desirable.
