The Senior Registered Engineer is responsible for administrative and supervisory activities managing and engineering multiple projects related to improvements for wastewater collection systems. The position is responsible for professional engineering activities involving the planning, analysis, design development, construction, renovation, maintenance or operation of utilities, assets and related projects. Work involves activities such as analyzing infrastructure systems, overseeing planning activities, and managing engineering projects including development of construction and collection system rehabilitation projects associated with wastewater assets. Identifies and develops applications and work standards for improvements and efficiencies. Provides assistance in changes to policies and standard operating procedures. Frequent consultation with internal divisions, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders as required in the analysis, design, review of plans/specification, and inspection of construction work for compliance with prescribed engineering criteria. Assignments are received in conference with a professional supervisor. Employees of this class are expected to exercise good judgment to resolve technical problems, manage projects, and provide data for asset risk assessment criteria. Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control of contracts, construction plans, materials, and studies for adherence to Water Services rules and regulations. Writes requests for proposals (RFPs) or quotations (RFQs) for new projects, and prepares emergency response memos. Verifies conformance of the plans and specifications prepared by design professionals, and submits Project Status Reports (PSRs). Reviews submittal materials and related asset data. Performs limited design, as well as drafting and computational duties in the office in preparation of studies, final plans and specifications for projects. Additional activities include: addressing emergency collection systems repairs, proposing changes to the standard specifications; interpreting and applying City ordinances, state and federal regulations, specifications, hydraulic modeling and calculations and related standards to projects; coordinating with multiple stakeholders and the public; and assisting operations staff when issues arise.
REQUIRES 2 years progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Missouri Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Professional Landscape Architects. Preference given to applicants with water and/or wastewater asset infrastructure experience, Civil Engineering Degree (BS) from ABET accredited University or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (MS) from ABET accredited University, and a minimum of 6 years of combined experience with a minimum of 3 years in a project management role.
