Marin County has transitioned from one-day neighborhood polling places to regional vote centers that are open for multiple days. The Vote Center Coordinator position is a temporary and hourly position. The incumbents will work Election Day and ten (10) days prior to Election Day. Extensive training will be provided before Vote Center Coordinators are assigned to their locations. Under general supervision from the Elections Department, a Vote Center Coordinator will: Set up, open and close the vote center each day. Lead staff at their assigned vote center. Perform the more specialized, complex and responsible administrative, clerical and document processing functions within the assigned vote center. Serve as a resource to assigned staff and the public regarding the more complex areas of assignment. Know all procedures and how to operate all vote center equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience using computers and the ability to learn specialized software programs. In addition, the ideal candidate is available to attend required classroom training and up to three (3) days of on-the-job training at the Elections Department and work up to ten (10) days before Election Day for nine (9) hours each day and on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Individuals who are bilingual in English and Spanish, Chinese or Vietnamese are highly desired. Environmental Health The Environmental Health Division is responsible for implementation of State and local programs with the goal of protecting public health, including permitting and inspections of retail food facilities, public pools, employee housing camps, mobile home parks, small water systems, on-site wastewater systems, wells, groundwater permits, facilities that possess and store hazardous materials, underground or above ground storage tanks. Environmental Health staff also provide emergency response support and oversight of cleanup of sewage and hazardous materials releases. Staff work under the authority of the County Public Health Officer to respond to health emergencies. About the Position The Environmental Health Specialist I/II conducts inspections, investigations, evaluations, reviews plans and reports, prepares written reports and records, processes permits, ensures compliance with laws and regulations governing environmental health, and provides consultation and informational services to the public. The Consumer Protection Team helps to protect the health of Napa County residents and visitors by working with retail food facilities, small water systems, public swimming pools, labor camps, and mobile home park operators to ensure facilities are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The ideal candidate for the Consumer Protection Team will have: A high degree of integrity and ethics with a focus on delivering excellent customer service, The ability to write and communicate effectively with members of the regulated community.
