Maintain and submit Hazardous Materials Business Plans for both North and South Base to local regulatory agencies. Prepare monthly Transit Safety and Security Form (405) Safety Items section for submission to the National Transit Database. Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets, verification of onsite inventory compliance, and on-line availability. Provide orientation on safety related matters for all newly hired District employees. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Identify opportunities for safety improvements during inspections to achieve compliance with safety rules and regulations. Address safety critical situations, recommend corrective measures, and prepare comprehensive reports. Participate in safety meetings and collaborate with District staff to identify and resolve safety matters. Prepare and maintain committee agendas, notes, and communications as appropriate. Respond to serious accidents and provide safety oversight for activities during active investigations. Review audit recommendations, accident investigations, and hazard reports. Interpret and apply applicable state, federal, and local policies, laws, and regulations. Monitor industry safety standards, applicable state, federal, and local policies, laws, and regulations to assure District compliance. Participate, plan, coordinate, and assist with emergency drills and exercises. Facilitate and assist with audits conducted by all regulatory agencies. Participate in developing exercises and procedures for emergency and disaster response. Assist with safety improvement programs, safety promotion activities, and positive safety culture. Monitor compliance with regulatory agencies for District construction projects. Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect oneself, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Conduct risk assessments and evaluate effectiveness of safety and security control programs and practices. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, or other related field. POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION The EMS Field Coordinator position is an administrative position responsible for overseeing field operations and the delivery of emergency medical care by department Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. Work involves the coordination of the Fire Department’s continuing education program, the procurement and maintenance of EMS-related equipment, participation in community outreach programs, instruction at EMS-related public education events, and the monitoring of Fire Department compliance with medical protocols and techniques to ensure continued improvement in the quality of care. Employees in this class work under the direct supervision of the EMS Chief. This is a commissioned, safety-sensitive position. The full salary range for this position is stated above. CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS Positions allocated to this class typically report to a higher level supervisor and are non-peace officer positions assigned to assist in providing security in and around County and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) facilities. Essential Job Functions Works a fixed post, usually at the entrance of a court facility, to detect or prevent unauthorized individuals from entering, or at a rail station to detect or prevent fare evasion. Disseminates information to the public and directs visitors to personnel and services within a County facility or rail station; inspects fare media (tickets, passes, etc.); maintains visibility to MTA passengers and employees; issues parking and transit-related citations. Writes daily activity, incident, and non-employee injury reports; completes fare inspection or bus boarding activity logs. May operate miscellaneous equipment and/or motor vehicles as required. May, as needed, be assigned to tour the interior or perimeter of a facility. Requirements ELECTION REQUIREMENTS AGE Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application. EDUCATION Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent high school proficiency or higher education. Evidence of equivalent high school proficiency includes having successfully passed the GED, TASC, HiSET, CHSPE, or CPP.
