Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Oboe Department Overview [ Department website ] Position Summary [ Course Catalog ] The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Humanities at California State University, Fresno seeks applicants for an Adjunct Faculty position, with the primary teaching responsibility of teaching oboe. The successful candidate will be responsible for sustaining and expanding the oboe studio in our growing and vibrant music program. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the Music Department and the College of Arts and Humanities. Conditional Appointment Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the “Order of Work,” or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees. Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions). Compensation - Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $4,530.00 - $6,056.00 per a month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the Department. Lecturer AY - Reading and Writing for College Success College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences The School of Humanities and Communication values the contributions of our adjunct faculty. HCOM offers many general education courses which provide our faculty with the opportunity to mentor and support students who are new to the university environment. We seek instructors for our new Reading and Writing for College Success courses and workshops. We are specifically seeking instructors with demonstrated experience in antiracist, asset-based pedagogies and assessment to help decolonize our curriculum. In addition to providing our students with the skills they need, our courses help students address social justice and equity issues and develop critical-thinking skills. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student success at the university level. Many of our students are first-generation from working-class backgrounds. The successful candidate must therefore have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Lecturers are required to maintain additional hours outside the classroom to provide assistance to students. Specific assignments are dependent upon department needs.
