    The Contra Costa Health Department is recruiting for one (1) qualified candidate interested in the Laboratory Technician III position assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) in Martinez, CA. This position may require coverage of shifts at Health Centers located in the East, West, and Central areas of the county. It follows a rotational schedule, and the incumbent will be required to work weekends.

    This position is the advanced-level position in this classification series. Under supervision, this position will act as the Lead Laboratory Technician; provide work direction to other technicians, assist licensed and certified personnel in collection and processing specimens, perform tests and analyses at the clinical laboratory within Contra Costa County, and other related work as required.

    • Is knowledgeable of standard phlebotomy procedures and laboratory processes
    • Has the ability to solve issues in a timely manner
    • Has excellent communication skills (verbally and in writing)

    What you will typically be responsible for:
    • You will collect blood and urine samples from patients and process specimens
    • You will assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientists in the performance of testing in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and other areas as assigned
    • You will assist licensed and certified personnel in specimen collection and processing, in performing hematology, chemistry, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, virology, mycobacteriology, mycology, urinalysis, and coagulation
    • You will write and update blood or specimen collection and processing procedures under direction

    Minimum Qualifications

    **PLEASE ATTACH PROOF OF YOUR CERTIFICATE TO YOUR APPLICATION**

    License: Possession of a Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License will be accepted during the application process.

    Certificate: Must possess and maintain a current, valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) Certificate issued by the State of California Department of Public Health Laboratory Field Services Branch.

    Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, or its equivalent, experience drawing blood.

    Selection Process

The responses to the supplemental questions, at the time of filing, will be evaluated to determine each candidate's relevant education, training, and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
