Major Duties Under general supervision, the Supervising Auto/Equipment Mechanic will be scheduling and overseeing automotive maintenance and repairs across the University fleet, diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicle and equipment issues. You'll assist with inventory management, including selecting, ordering, and storing automotive parts. Your responsibilities include inspecting completed repairs, maintaining accurate and detailed records on all vehicles, and ensuring inventory accuracy. You will conduct preventive maintenance, monitor gasoline, diesel fuel, and bulk petroleum levels, and coordinate procurement accordingly. Your role also involves obtaining competitive price quotes for external repair services, performing emergency road services, and facilitating parts pickups. Additionally, you will actively participate in regular safety meetings, provide support in administrative tasks, including the modernization of Auto Shop processes, and deliver exemplary customer service.
- Schedules work and maintenance repairs on the University Automotive Fleet.
- Troubleshoots problems with vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains records on all vehicles and inventory of parts and equipment.
- Directs or assists with preventive maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
- Ensures safety and proper work techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Equivalent to three (3) or more years of experience as a journey-level automotive or equipment mechanic, including one (1) to two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Ability to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment problems to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
- Skilled in managing automotive inventory, including selecting, ordering, storing, and accurately recording parts and materials.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, with the ability to coordinate and promote safety standards and participate actively in safety meetings and programs.
- Proficient in performing comprehensive repairs and maintenance on diverse automotive systems, including engines, brakes, steering, fuel systems, and air conditioning systems.
- Ability to conduct emissions testing on campus vehicles and manage responsibilities related to the administration of automated fueling systems.

- The anticipated HIRING RANGE is: $7479 - $8442 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $7497 - $10921 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
