    Workdays & Hours: This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call-back hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

    Below are available shifts:
    • Sunday -Thursday 6:30am - 3:30pm
    • Saturday-Wednesday: Midnight to 8 am

    The City of Fort Worth Water Department is seeking two experienced and dedicated Water Systems Supervisors to join our Field Operations Division within the Water Distribution System. This division is a critical part of the City’s infrastructure, operating 24/7 and playing an integral role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of Fort Worth's water and wastewater systems. These positions will play a key role in the City’s success by contributing to the continued growth and maintenance of Fort Worth’s critical infrastructure. As a Water Systems Supervisor, you will supervise and manage staff while overseeing operations to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of services related to water distribution and wastewater collection. The ideal candidates will have a strong technical background in water distribution systems and a proven ability to lead and manage a team. The incumbent will be proactive in addressing issues, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel in responding to challenges requiring quick thinking and problem-solving. In addition to supervising staff, identifying and allocating resource needs, assigning work to staff, investigating water distribution and wastewater collection issues, inspecting work, responding to and resolving customer questions and concerns, reporting shift activities to day-time staff, and Supervision along with performing complex work in a variety of professional, technical and analytical safety functions in support of the assigned division/department.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in water utility field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities, including lead supervisory experience.
    • Currently in possession of TCEQ Water Distribution C License is required.
    • Possession of a valid Driver’s license.
    • Must be able to pass a physical and drug screen.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two (2) years of experience working with water utility
    • Two (2) years of previous supervisory work experience.
    • Extensive experience working with the public.
    • Previous experience working with a large municipal utility
    • Experience using GIS or other mapping software.
    • Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts.

    The Water Systems Supervisor job responsibilities include:
    • Supervises assigned staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
    • Inspects the maintenance, installation, and repair of collection and distribution system and equipment; inspects work in progress; provides advice and assistance to maintenance staff as necessary.
    • Identify organizational resource needs including the need for contractors for new construction and rehabilitation, scheduling, and managing emergency events (SSO, bypass, emergency main repair/replacement, and main breaks).
    • Investigate, create, assign, and follow up on work orders; ensure compliance with business section’s goals; assist in inspecting maintenance, construction, repair, and operational activities.
    • Coordinate Field Operations activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations; provide staff assistance to supervisory and management staff; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence, respond to and resolve public inquiries and complaints.
    • Assist in establishing schedules and methods for providing construction, maintenance, and repair services; identify resource needs; review needs with management, and allocate resources accordingly.
    • Maintain accurate records; prepare daily and administrative reports pertaining to policy and procedures of Field Operations and inspect maintenance, construction, repair, and operational activities; conduct on-site changes to specifications as necessary.
    • Responds to and resolves public inquiries and complaints; confers with customers regarding problems; and assists as necessary.

    Medical Program
