Major Duties Under general supervision and working under the CECS Student Services Center & Educational Opportunity Programs (SSC/EOP) Satellite Director of Advising, the Undergraduate Academic Advisor provides holistic advisement and support services to all students within the College. The incumbent promotes persistence, academic excellence, and timely degree completion of students in the College.
- Provides individual and group academic advisement to new, continuing, and readmitted students (including academic notice, disqualified and readmitted students, as well as students inquiring to change into or out of the college, etc.).
- Explains university degree requirements and provides academic policies, procedures, and regulations, and assists students with educational planning, course selection, and other advisement related issues.
- Provides additional holistic support services to EOP students and participates in EOP admissions/planning and committee work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
- Equivalent to one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
- A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for the required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - General knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management; working knowledge of research and interviewing techniques; working knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior; ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge of the organization, procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned; and working knowledge of the basic principles, practices and major trends in the Student Services field to which assigned.
- Ability and specialized skills to: rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the specific objectives of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to the total campus operation; interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather and analyze data; ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations and other private and public agencies.

- Classification: Student Services Professional / 3079 / IB
- The anticipated HIRING RATE is $4269 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $4269 - $6040 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday with occasional weekends & evenings.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. Based on a satisfactory progress and successful completion of the SSP IB training program, the incumbent will be promoted to the level of Student Services Professional II after 12 months (if additional professional development is needed, staff will be informed at least 1 month in advance).
- The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
