DescriptionTHE POSITIONWe invite you to join the high performing team at the Town of Prescott Valley, serving as our Security Guard—PT to monitor and maintain the safety and security of the Magistrate Court. If you have a desire to serve the community, we encourage you to apply.
Examples of DutiesIn this position you will: - Screen court visitors; operate hand-held and walk-through magnetometers to detect concealed weapons and hazardous objects.
- Interact with difficult and/or belligerent persons to diffuse situations peacefully.
- Respond to security or emergency situations directly or by contacting appropriate staff, law enforcement or other emergency personnel as necessary.
- Assist patrons entering the courthouse and provide directions and information in a professional manner.
- Act proactively to effectively and discreetly defuse potential problem situations with minimal disruption to court services. Recognize and refer situation best handled by law enforcement. Escort disruptive patrons from Town premises and call law enforcement when necessary.
- Identify potential security/safety concerns and notify the Court Manager and/or Magistrate Judge; prepare and submit reports on security incidents.
Typical QualificationRequirements:- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of security experience, preferably with extensive public interaction.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background including driving record.
- Ability to secure First Aid/CPR Certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Must successfully complete the Court Security Officer Academy of the Arizona Supreme Court within ninety (90) days of hire.
- Skill in evaluating and responding to security problems in a swift, effective manner and with appropriate actions.
Compensation: The Town's complete compensation package includes salary, benefits, and a high performance culture. The Town package includes a no-cost to individual health insurance plan and a generous retirement package including participation in the Arizona State Retirement System.
The hourly range is $20.28 to $28.39.
The expected hiring range is $20.28 to $23.32.

Part-time regular employees:
- General Leave:125 hours the first 5 years then increasing after 5 years.
- Holidays: Eleven (11) paid holidays; Six(6) hours per day for PT employees.
- Workers' Compensation: Southwest Risk Insurance; Subsidizes lost wages and provides medical benefits as mandated by the state for on the job work related illness or injuries.
