    Position Description
    Provides advance professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients. Coordinates the delivery of clinical health care within an administrative region of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, ensuring that the appropriate health care is accessible and provided in a timely fashion.

    Major/Essential Functions
    • Directs, coordinates, and ensures the provision of the full range of health care services in assigned region; coordinates with all disciplines and providers, including onsite and offsite care.
    • Acts as the final medical authority in matters of regional discussions.
    • Assures the region's compliance with external auditing standards, executive directives, administrative directives, access to care and other applicable policies and procedures.
    • Reviews the functioning of each unit's medical operation.
    • Responsible for afterhours call for the Lubbock County Jail.
    • Persists in leading change and system improvement.
    • Responsible for completing charts, death summaries, Administrative and Grievance Reviews.
    • Provides administrative oversight and monitoring of assigned employees.
    • Delegates responsibilities and specific duties to appropriate personnel and assures that all duties delegated are performed.
    • Teams with HR and other leaders to make wise personnel decisions.
    • Closely interact with providers and Utilization Management with regards to patient specialty care and resource management.
    • Performs a variety of duties as assigned to include providing onsite coverage at various units as needed.
    • Persists in leading change and system improvement.
    • Monitors operations of medical clinics by reviewing and interpreting monthly reports, reviewing charts, and inspecting clinics.
    • Compiles and analyzes relevant data and statistics and prepares action/ performance reports as needed.
    • Provides necessary leadership to achieve established goals and reach mutually beneficial agreements among unit disciplines.
    • Ensures organizational goals, updates, guidelines, and policies are communicated throughout the regional/ functional team.
    • Provides medical service at multiple units as needed within the MC/OSI service delivery area with minimal notice (i.e. morning of).


    Required Qualifications
    Must hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Must hold current Drug Enforcement Agency controlled substances registration certificate.
