The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH), Office of Informatics and Technology (OIT) is seeking an IT Professional 2 in Carson City. Under general direction of the IT Professional III Server/Networking Team Supervisor the incumbent supports the Department of Health and Human Services, Director's Office by working closely OIT Field and Technical Services Team. Duties include support, management, planning and coordinating with internal and external users and vendors in support of the Director's Office and DPBH users and environment. The DPBH Systems and Infrastructure positions supports 45 locations including rural and community health clinics, four 24X7 clinical environments, including forensic and adult psychiatric care, pharmaceutical dispensing, and tele-health services provided by these clinics. The IT Professional 2 will support, maintain, manage, and administer the statewide Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) network systems, servers and infrastructures. The incumbent will use such tools as Solarwinds, Dell Open Manage, vSphere, Putty, Microsoft?s Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Active Directory suite, SplashTop, and the Meraki Dashboard for the administration, monitoring, analysis and troubleshooting of the geographically dispersed DHHS/DPBH Enterprise Network. The incumbent is responsible for mentoring other IT staff. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions require an applicant to undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment. Special Requirements Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back. Some positions require statewide travel. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional Position Criteria A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
