    The Department of Public Works is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure . M aintaining City facilities , fleet assets, facilitating and regulating development activities, and providing animal care services.     Salary Range

    The total salary range for the Microsoft Windows Desktop Support Engineer ( Network Engineer ) classification is $116,909.52 - $142,243.92.

    This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

    Position Duties

    The Public Works Technology Services Division is recruiting a Microsoft Windows Desktop Support Engineer ( Job classification - Network Engineer ). The Desktop Support Engineer role includes day-to-day desktop support, user support, patch management, system administration and maintenance. The environment includes about 800 Windows devices, approximately 50 servers, iOS mobile devices, all running on multiple network segments.

    **Please Note* This position is 100% on-site, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm**

    Ideal Experience Includes:

    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM)


    • Windows 11 OS deployment


    • Windows Server 2019 or newer / Virtual Machines


    • Active Directory (AD) / Group Policies (GPO)


    • Autopilot / Intune / Azure


    • PowerShell scripting


    • Mobile Device Management (MDM)


    • Basic SQL Knowledge


    • Cyber Security Remediation Techniques


    • Manage Device and Replacement Part Inventories


    • Interact with customers ensuring help is provided in a timely manner

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or a closely related field

    Experience: Three (3) years of experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop, data security, system administration, server, or network support to end users

    Acceptable Substitution: Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to two years of the education requirement

    Licenses or Certificates : Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California AND possession of an industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise, OR an equivalent professional, industry recognized certification acceptable to the City .

    Other Qualifications

    Job Expertise - Demonstrates knowledge of and experience with applicable professional/technical principles and practices, Citywide and departmental procedures/policies and federal and state rules and regulations.

    Communication Skills - Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing; demonstrates effective use of listening skills and displays openness to other people's ideas and thoughts.

    Computer Skills - Experienced with common business computer applications including but not limited to: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Excel , Teams, Zoom, VPN’s , SCCM, OS Imaging and Patching.

    Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills - Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks while using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

    Analytical Thinking - Approaching a problem or situation by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.

    Collaboration - Develop associations and builds alliances; engages in cross-functional activities.

    Continuous Improvement - Actively identifies new areas for learning and regularly creates and takes advantage of learning opportunities.
