Introduction The City of Scottsdale is seeking a highly motivated individual who has demonstrated customer service and facility operations experience to join the Sports Complex recreation team which oversees Scottsdale Sports Complex, Bell94 Sports Complex and Reata Sports Complex. These facilities include 21 sports fields which attract regional/national level tournament play as well as local practices throughout the year. Duties include but are not limited to day-to-day leadership and supervision of part time recreation staff, overseeing tournament reservations, seasonal allocations, hourly field rentals, and management of the Sports Complex operations.
Anticipated starting salary may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience- High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- One year as a Recreation Leader II or comparable level of experience in the recreation or a related field.
- Must have at least six months of Lead or Supervisory experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements- Depending on assignment, must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, establishing performance goals, and writing performance evaluations.
- Plans, organizes, observes, and directs a variety of recreational activities in a recreation or related program area.
- Responds to and resolves complaints; advises and provides assistance to individuals and groups on related recreational problems.
- Plans, organizes, and directs recreational activities.
- Attends and conducts staff meetings to train staff in specific program area, policies, procedures, safety, public relations skills, and leadership skills.
- Observes and evaluates existing services, projects, programs, and provides assistance to individuals and groups.
- Drives a motor vehicle to various off-site locations to monitor City-sponsored programs, depending on assignment.
Work Environment/Physical Demands - Lift and carry tables, sound and lighting equipment, and booth frames, weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a personal computer requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Operate a motorized vehicle, depending on assignment.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
