Job Description

Part-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Community Services Division located at Gregg/Klice Community Center, 1600 John "Buck" O'Neil Way
Salary Range: $20.48-$30.71/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., some nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and instructs Youth/Adult Boxing classes.
  • Leads private boxing lessons and skills training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Boxing Coach Certification through USA Boxing.
  • Will act as fitness and boxing room attendant.
  • Teaches and trains Recreation Leaders to assist with boxing classes.
  • Opens, secures, and cleans program areas before and after program use.
  • Observes and enforces all rules and regulations of the facility.
  • Must obtain American Red Cross AED/CPR/First Aid certification through American Red Cross training.
  • Assists with designing, implementing, and evaluating a diverse range of fitness/recreational programs and activities for various age groups and interests.
  • Assists with creating and managing program budgets, including tracking expenses and revenue.
  • Promotes programs and events through various channels, including social media, flyers, and community outreach.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Addresses participant concerns and feedback to improve program quality and participant satisfaction.
  • Maintains accurate records of program participation, financial transactions, and other relevant data.
  • Prepares and submits regular reports on program performance, participant demographics, and financial status.
  • Analyzes program data to assess effectiveness and make informed recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Assists with organizing and working special events, workshops, and seasonal activities.
  • Collaborates with external vendors and partners for event support and resources.
  • Evaluates event outcomes and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Implements emergency procedures and provide first aid or coordinate medical assistance as needed.
  • Manages program registrations, including online and in-person sign-ups, payments, and cancellations.
  • Handles correspondence, phone calls, and inquiries related to programs and event,
  • Must be able to obtain Silver Sneakers, personal training, group fitness certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 months of experience in recreational activities. May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen as prescribed by the City.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
