Job Description

Summary of Work

The duties and responsibilities of this position are associated with providing administrative support for the IT/CJIS division. The main emphasis is on supporting the division director and IT/CJIS supervisors.

Duties include:
  1. Arrange meetings around schedules of multiple individuals (internal and external)
  2. Make travel arrangements
  3. Prepare reports of IT activities
  4. Perform basic financial duties, such as tracking work orders and invoices, filing of records, balancing information, using time records each month.
  5. Understand coding structure for IT financial transactions and monthly invoicing
  6. Purchase items
  7. Assist staff with testing new applications or application changes
  8. Assist with writing help documentation
  9. Assist with logging inventory for IT/CJIS staff
  10. Assist with data entry projects
  11. Assist on various projects and tasks as directed by the division director
  12. Other duties as assigned

In addition to the monthly salary, this position includes fully paid health insurance for employee and family, the option to participate in employee-paid dental and vision for employee and family, participation in the state NDPERS defined benefit/contribution retirement plan as well as the option to participate in the 457 deferred compensation plan, the option to contribute to a medical spending account, and earning annual and sick leave.

Employees in this position are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

Location of Work:

The IT/CJIS Division is located in Bismarck, North Dakota and this is an in-person position.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Two (2) year Associates degree with major coursework in office support, business, or office education (Note: The hiring authority will consider substituting additional work experience for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis if the experience provides the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of this position.)
  2. One year of experience performing a variety of office support, clerical, or secretarial work. Preference will be given to individuals with coursework and/or work experience in the criminal justice field or information technology.
  3. Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of computer equipment as well as word processing and spreadsheet software. Preference will be given to individuals with Microsoft Office experience.
  4. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  5. Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills
