What You'll Be Doing

The Southern Regional Center (SRC) is seeking a self-motivated Economic Services Technician with a positive attitude to help ensure efficient departmental operations within the Southern Regional Center (SRC) and serve as the initial point of contact for the Economic Self-Sufficiency Services (ESS) team. In your new community-serving role you will be given the unique opportunity to learn and work with the many different teams and Health and Human Services programs offered at the SRC preparing you for a long, rewarding career with many promotion opportunities. You will be assisting visitors to the center, doing reception duties, assisting with special projects, researching cases, gathering materials, and collecting and entering data. assisting clients/patients with registration, directing clients to the proper assistance, maintaining knowledge of the electronic document management programs for ESS and Health Clinics, managing charts for health clinics, handling money functions to receive payments, handling gas card requests for the Transportation office, and prescription pick-ups for Health Clinics and the Behavioral Health providers.

This career opportunity is also perfect to be the launch pad for your Economic Services Case Management career. You will be strengthening your Economic Services skills by assessing and assisting walk-in clients of Economic Self-Sufficiency Services (ESS), screening walk-in clients, gathering information through interviews, conducting research in NC FAST and agency records, and elicit pertinent information from the client, assisting clients with filling out online applications in the computer center or in person and more.

Bilingual candidates, those with NCFast experience and or customer service experience with a local or state department of social services or health and human services are encouraged to apply.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in human services
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Ability to interpret and translate from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish
  • Customer Service experience assisting clients in a human services with a county or state DSS/HHS or Medical clinic setting
  • Experience scanning and indexing electronic data and records
  • Knowledge and or experience with the NCFAST system
