Tacoma Power's Utility Technology Services division is establishing an eligible list for IT Analyst, Senior Technical which will be used to fill vacancies for one year.

The current vacancy is an IT Analyst Senior Technical position. This position is a key member of the UTS Systems Operations Support team and will be assigned the responsibilities and duties of a technical lead and top advisor on complex, large-scale utility Endpoint and Application Enablement service delivery and projects for and on behalf of the Utility. This lead position will be expected to consistently apply advanced principles, techniques, planning, development, implementation, and administration of complex or multifunctional applications and systems in support of the Utility. The position coordinates work and activities of the UTS Computer Support Technicians and backs up the lead of the UTS Service Desk. Under the supervision of the CTSS Technology Manger this position will focus on:
  • Server and VM administration
  • SCCM / Endpoint / Application enablement technologies
  • Applying advanced technical knowledge to evaluate and resolve complex tasks such as planning and directing projects, conducting capacity planning, coordinating, or facilitating the installation of complex systems, hardware, software, application interfaces or applications.
  • Leading/coaching and mentoring Computer Support Technicians
Responsibilities Include:
  • Windows Server environment administration, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Windows client administration and maintenance
  • Managing DNS, DHCP, AD user management, shares, printers, GPO, PowerShell
  • Monitoring and system management with SCOM and SCCM
  • Virtual server deployment and support with VMware
  • Research and evaluate new technologies.
  • Working with internal users on IT related problems
  • Responds to Level 2 and 3 support and works with vendors as needed to resolve issues across the utility.
  • Works with vendor technical support personnel on solutions for clients.
  • Use of automation skills and tools
  • Expert knowledge of system security systems, backup, disaster recovery and related processes
  • File share administration
  • Technical consulting services for software, hardware, and applications for Utility technologies


Qualifications

Equivalent combination to:
Bachelor degree in computer science or related field and five or more years directly related information technology work experience.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Some positions may require a valid Washington State Driver's License at time of appointment with maintenance thereafter.

Examination Process
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will have their supplemental questionnaire scored. Candidates who obtain a passing score will be ranked on the eligible list for interview and hiring consideration.

Hiring Requirements
Individuals given a conditional offer of employment must also pass a pre-employment
medical examination that will include a drug/alcohol screening, background check and reference checks. This position is covered by a Labor Agreement between the City of Tacoma and Local 120. New employees must successfully complete a nine-month probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification.
