Minimum Qualifications

One year of permanent, competitive service as a Historic Site Manager A, Historic Site Manager B, Historic Preservation Program Coordinator or Senior Historic Site Restoration Coordinator.
OR
Two years of permanent, competitive service as a Historic Site Manager C, Interpretive Program Coordinator, Historic Preservation Program Analyst or Historic Site Restoration Coordinator.

*NOTE: If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Historic Site Regional Supervisor exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list.

Duties Description

The Historic Site Regional Supervisor position will oversee the Taconic Region’s historic site managers and related projects. As the key historic preservation lead on the regional management team and in close coordination with the Division of Historic Preservation (DHP) and the Bureau of Historic Sites (BHS), the Historic Site Regional Supervisor will also be responsible for advancing historic site planning. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Representing historic preservation interests in the development of park plans, such as ensuring historic buildings and grounds are preserved; that historic integrity is maintained; and that the archeological impact is reviewed in the process of Capital and Park planning.
• Advocating for prioritizing historic preservation workplans for the region’s restoration and maintenance efforts.
• Working collaboratively with facility managers to ensure that the team’s initiatives are implemented smoothly and meet regional, park, and program needs.
• Represent Historic Preservation on the Regional Management Team for master planning, project planning, setting priorities, and the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process.
• Overseeing or completing the entering, updating, and maintaining of the regions entries within the Cultural Resources Information System (CRIS).
• Facilitate communication and coordination of all historic preservation-related projects between the regional management team, historic site staff, and the Division of Historic and Bureau of Historic Sites.
• Prioritize and coordinate the regional requests for specialized services, such as interfacing with the Bureau of Historic Sites conservation, interpretation, and collections needs.
• Manage and review the development of historic interpretation, exhibits, and events throughout the region.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and coaching of the Region’s historic site staff.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to operate a vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.

*The posted hiring rate is the sum of the statutory hiring rate for MC Grade M-1($90,931) and the Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,650) The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($114,940) and the Downstate Adjustment ($1,640).
