Role

Bilingual Spanish Preferred

Responsible for all aspects of managing dental services at all Community Health Center of Yavapai (CHCY) locations.

Major Duties, Responsibilities

  • Provides effective leadership, supervision, and guidance to dental services staff. Recruits/hires, orients, educates, supervises, and evaluates staff.
  • Develops, documents, and implements dental guidelines and protocols that focus on high-quality patient care and office efficiency.
  • Oversees the operation of dental services including equipment maintenance/repair, ordering supplies, and overall appearance and cleanliness.
  • Maximizes revenue by working closely with patients and billing to ensure that patient accounts are current. Oversees the processing of insurance pre-authorizations and referrals. Responds to customer concerns, complaints, and incidents.
  • Works as a dental assistant as needed. Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.
  • Coordinates practitioners' schedules to maximize use of space and support personnel.
  • Works with staff to identify, develop, and implement processes to enhance dental operations and practices for ongoing Quality Improvement.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Associate’s degree in a health related field.

Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience as a dental assistant to include 2 (two) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity.

An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Must possess Dental X-Ray License.
Must posses Basic Life Support for the Health Care Professional
Must possess a current fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
  • Dental service operations and clinic maintenance.
  • CHCY as it relates to patient scheduling, back-office flow, CDT coding, and billing.
  • EPM and EMR software systems.
  • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Clerical office practices and procedures.
  • Research techniques and report writing.
  • Current Microsoft Office software.
  • Filing and recordkeeping.


Skill in:
  • Management and supervision.
  • Personnel training.
  • Demonstrating care, concern, and courtesy when dealing with people.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.

Ability to:
  • Ensure all staff members are up to date in annual training including, but not limited to, confidentiality and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Convene and conduct staff meetings to ensure that all staff is aware of policies and procedures. Conduct problem-solving activities as needed.
  • Participate in the CHCY Quality Improvement Program.
  • Abide by all Community Health Center of Yavapai (CHCY) Policies and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with a dental office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to blood and body fluids and occasionally may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
