Job Description

TPWD MISSION

To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

PLEASE NOTE: The salary listed on this posting will receive a 5% legislative appropriated increase effective 9/1/2024.

Under the direction of the Assistant Park Superintendent, this position performs highly complex (senior-level) administrative support work at Lake Whitney State Park. The Office Manager disseminates information, prepares correspondence and maintains filing systems regarding personnel management, purchasing, budgeting, training, material/property management, and other administrative procedures assigned by park leadership. Compiles/edits data and prepares reports/summaries as required for park leadership. Supervises the work of others to include performance reviews, onboarding, offboarding, personnel actions and time entry. Processes/distributes mail, maintains files/park records and provides customer service. Provides information and assistance to park visitors and the public. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all rules, regulations and procedures.


Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education :

Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience :

Four years of experience performing administrative support duties;

Experience as a supervisor or team leader.

Licensure :

Must possess a valid State driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Education :

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.

Experience :

Four years of administrative experience performing accounting, typing, filing, preparing correspondence, handling and accounting cash revenues and other related duties;

Four years of experience using a computer to perform word processing and spreadsheet development;

Four years of customer service experience;

Four years of supervisory or team leader experience;

Bilingual in any of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic or American Sign Language.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Knowledge of general office procedures;

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing systems, filing and records management systems, forms design principles and other office procedures and terminology;

Knowledge of accounting/accountability of revenue collection;

Knowledge of budget management, tracking, forecasting and monitoring;

Skill in using MS Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook;

Skill in effective verbal and written communication;

Skill in using standard office equipment;

WORKING CONDITIONS :

Required to work in a public park with overnight camping;

Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays;

Required to work overtime as necessary;

Required to travel 5% with overnight stays;

Non-smoking environment in all State buildings and vehicles;

May be required to operate a state vehicle;

Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures.
