Based on preparation level and experience per TEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Range is $68,534 (BA+0 step 1) - $134,412 (MA+90 step 20)

Union/Days per year: Teacher, 182 workdays, 10-month

Additional Information: This position encompasses two roles: .5 Building Instructional Coach and .5 K-3 Collaborative Support Teacher. The Instructional Coach/K-3 Collaborative Support Teacher works closely with the building administrator to 1) provide professional growth opportunities to building certificated and classified staff to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction aligned to the TPS instructional framework and standards based system, and 2) to partner with K-3 classroom teachers to support primary student achievement within core instructional blocks using a collaborative teaching approach via a variety of grouping configurations.

Examples Of Duties

This position works in partnership with the building principal; provides leadership, training, and assistance to District certificated and classified staff to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction aligned to the District instructional framework and standards based system; models and supports effective instruction to increase student achievement consistent with state standards; provides professional development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Focuses on collaborative work with the assigned principal and building teacher leaders to implement the school improvement plan to meet the District’s mission and strategic goals; serves as a member of an instructional support team to increase student achievement consistent with state standards.

2. Collects, analyzes and utilizes data gathered from District, building, and classroom assessments to guide support, and assist building staff with goal setting and strengthening practices to meet the needs of all students; supervises students in lunchroom, in hallways, on school grounds, and in any program held at the school under School District sanction.

3. Supports the instructional growth of teachers, as teacher leader, by modeling the use of, and supporting teachers with, effective instructional practices and integrating instructional technology appropriately.

4. Develops and conducts trainings, professional development, and professional learning experiences to affect changes and improvements in elements of District standards-based system, including lesson/unit design and delivery as well as District curriculum delivery.

5. Assists the building principal and the building teacher leadership in problem solving, planning improvement goals, and in creating and implementing the building professional development plan.

6. Responds to inquiries from District staff concerning materials, teaching methods, and special projects; assists in developing special programs.

7. Shares knowledge of current educational trends with building staff to implement research-based best practices and strategies in support of District initiatives.

8. Facilitates building Professional Learning Community (PLC) work by coordinating, planning, facilitating, and following-up.

9. Demonstrates effective instructional delivery aligned to the District instructional framework; coaches, models, and supports effective instructional practices by addressing the social, emotional and learning needs of educators.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

1. Performs related duties as assigned, on a temporary basis.

2. Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities, workshops and conferences as needed or as assigned.

3. Maintains knowledge of educational trends and research; provides information to building staff regarding current trends; attends District meetings, as required; participates in a variety of professional growth activities to stay abreast of current research.

4. Manages special projects.

5. Regular, reliable, predictable, attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

CONDITIONS

Required to work flexible hours and a flexible calendar; required to occasionally transport instructional materials and equipment; required to travel to District sites; required to occasionally travel outside of the District; required to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile, and move/lift heavy objects up to 20 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education and five years successful teaching experience, required; Master’s degree or MIE certificate or equivalent, preferred; experience in more than one grade level, preferred; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Valid Washington State teaching certificate.

Valid Washington State driver's license and access to personal transportation.

Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.
