What You'll Be Doing

Wake County Child Welfare currently serves approximately 460 children in our foster care system. Currently a quarter of those youth are adolescents or young adults. Our LINKS Coordinator works specifically and serving this population and their social workers in improving success in achieving the 8 LINKS Outcomes.

The LINKS Coordinator's essential duties include:
  • Providing outreach support including monitoring and updating social media sites; staying connected with aged-out young adults
  • Providing after-care case support for social workers, youths, and young adults
  • Assessing and making needed referrals to community resources, DHHS resources, mental health, housing, and education needs
  • Coordinating weekly LINKS activity meetings
  • Interfacing and coordinating with various community partners to provide support, services and programming to youth in or having had a history in care
  • Serving on the Central Regional LINKS Planning Board
  • Developing, planning, coordinating, and supervising local, state, or out-of-state special events (SaySo, national conferences, college tours, etc.)
  • Providing ongoing case consultation for current active cases
  • Providing leadership consultation which will include training, recruitment, and support to youth for leadership involvement
  • Attending meetings and performing duties deemed necessary to further the success of the division’s programs

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Completion of the NC Child Welfare Education Collaborative (CWEC) traineeship can be substituted for 1 year of experience
  • Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

  • Current NC Child Welfare Pre-Service Training
  • Public child welfare experience in a department of Social Service in NC
  • Foster Care and Adoption experience
  • Resource Parent Curriculum [RPC] Trained
